$80 once, free entry for life
One payment of $80 covers your entry to over 2,000 federal recreation sites, including national parks, forests, and wildlife refuges, for the rest of your life. At sites that charge by the car, it covers everyone riding with you.
What you actually get
- Free entry at national parks and federal lands that charge an entrance fee. Where the fee is per vehicle, the pass covers the driver and everyone in the car.
- 50% off some amenity fees, like camping, swimming, and boat launches. It may not apply to fees charged by outside concessionaires.
How to buy it
As of January 1, 2026, you can buy the pass instantly as a digital version on Recreation.gov, so there's no waiting for one to show up in the mail. You can also pick one up in person at a federal site that charges an entrance fee, or order it by mail. To get the senior price, bring proof of age and residency. A driver's license usually does both.
Buy it before you go
